The Stage 1 works at Holy Spirit College, Bellambi are the first major step in a master plan for a site that was previously an old, disused convent building. The site afforded the opportunity to develop a new, purpose-built Administration and Student Services Centre, as well as providing additional general learning spaces to meet the needs of an expanding student population.
The new building includes administration spaces and main public entry on the ground floor, and eight GLA spaces on the upper floor, while the relocation of the existing administration unlocks site zones that enable the design of a new resource centre development.
The project also included the creation of a series of passive landscaped courtyards, improving student amenity and providing resting spaces for reflection and peer collaboration.
The new building is integrated and connected to neighbouring buildings across multiple levels, with the built intervention resolving many accessibility issues for existing site infrastructure, while creating dynamic covered and elevated pathways to improve circulation.
The main public site entry and visitor carparking were also relocated, optimising site security and access control by being positioned on the periphery of the site.
