Eileen O’Connor Catholic College, Lewisham – Stage 2 Primary School

Stage 2

As the next stage of the master plan for the site, the stage 2 works at Eileen O’Connor Catholic College incorporated the construction of a new two-storey special needs primary school, a drop-off/pick-up zone, staff carparking facilities and the refurbishment of a heritage hall.

The design of the primary school links to the existing high school through a raised outdoor play area above the new staff carpark and enhances the college’s teaching areas with the introduction of five new GLA’s, accessible bathrooms and a living skills room. Within the living skills room students can not only learn vital skills such as cooking but can also interact with their peers in the adjacent external playground to the north via a canteen window.

The design of the classrooms provides accessible pathways throughout the new areas as well as utilising modern AV and hearing augmentation systems to more aptly engage with students.
